Portland Gay Men’s Chorus to throw 40th anniversary Gala – “What We Do for Love”

The Portland Gay Men’s Chorus honors a rich history and looks to the future for their 40th anniversary season with their first gala – What We Do for Love.

Celebrating 4 decades of accomplishments as a leader within the gay community, PGMC has performed throughout North America and China championing causes for the LGBTQ+ community both at home and abroad.

Founded in 1980, PGMC is one of the oldest gay men’s choruses in the country. With 40 years of history, PGMC represents a long standing tradition of the Portland arts scene with eclectic performances that honor and uplift the LGBTQ+ community and affirm the worth of all people. Today, PGMC is a vibrant organization with more than 125 members and a commitment to artistic excellence. With four decades of history, there is a lot to celebrate and reflect upon.

“What We Do for Love is our opportunity to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished as a chorus and as a community,” said Richard Jung, Executive Director of PGMC.

The Gala will launch PGMC’s 40th anniversary season which includes an exciting concert series of holiday favorites, past musical moments, and top 40 hits. The gala will also be used to announce PGMC’s new Artistic Director who is expected to usher in a new and exciting time of growth and change for the long standing chorus. “It’s an exciting time for the organization as we begin looking towards the next 40 years,” said Jung.

What We Do for Love features a silent and live auction with famed auctioneer Chris Sheik, a special cabaret performance by Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, and will be emceed by Tracy Barry, formerly of KGW Channel 8. Also included is a cocktail reception and dinner by Vibrant Table Catering and Events.
